TOSCO (Tourism Supporting Conservation Trust) is the leading organisation in promoting responsible travel in Namibia, by bringing tourism into harmony with nature.

Tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries worldwide and in Namibia. Much of its visitors seek to experience its wildlife and wide-open spaces. Traveling to natural areas can however be harmful and have an adverse effect on the environment.

With the support of our tourism members and partnering with established nature organisations, we work on projects that ensure the long-term conservation of the natural resources that tourism depends on, so that nature can continue to support tourism in return.

In all our work, community conservation plays a central role. Rural communities have led Namibia’s conservation success story, whereby nature thrived since they were empowered with the rights to manage and benefit from its natural resources. With the support from tourism, we support and implement projects that help increase the value of natural resources for local communities, so that they benefit from maintaining a healthy environment. Hence our motto: travel responsibly, the Namibian way!

Our vision is for travellers to enjoy Namibia’s extraordinary wild places, while nature thrives and communities prosper. TOSCO promotes responsible travel by linking tourism and conservation within three key themes:
